Demolition of the Old Townsville General Hospital
As can be seen from these photos, demolition of buildings is not an easy task. Excavators have to be put on top of buildings to work heir way down while others clean up the rubble.
Mobile crushers turn this resulting rubble into recycled fill. In the vicinity of 13,000 tonnes, plus another 2,000 tonnes of footing material.
The old Nurses Quarters can be seen with excavators on the roof working their way from the seventh floor to the ground at a rate of approximately 4 - 6 days per floor.
The Kitchen Block and surrounding areas are already gone.
