Gavin Markwell is the originator and Managing Director of The Markwell Group. Gavin has more than 36 years experience in Demolition, Earthmoving, Crushing and Screening and Plant Hire. Gavin is a qualified demolisher, a qualified boilermaker and qualified to remove and supervise Friable Asbestos Removal

Wayne Bartley

The latest addition to the team at Markwell Group is that of our new General Manager, Wayne Bartley. Wayne has a wealth of experience having spent the past 30+ years in managerial roles including regional management, project management, operational management through to General manager, Wayne has a proven track record in the industry and along with his people skills and business acumen all driven by a strong work ethic places Markwell group in safe hands to ensure we remain number one in our field for many years to come.

Luke Harrison

Luke has been in the earthmoving industry for over eight years, he has experience in operating, civil supervision, crushing and screening supervision, logistics and management. He brings great knowledge and eagerness to the Markwell Group.

Wayne Pellow

Wayne has been an employee of the Markwell Group for over 25 years and has been a manager for 20 years. Wayne is an integral part of the business due to his expertise in the field of demolition, specialising in the removal of asbestos. Wayne is competent to operate a number of machines as well as a Demolition Nominated Supervisor and is qualified to remove and supervise Friable Asbestos Removal.

History

The Markwell Group was established in 1980, the business started with a shovel and a utility. The Markwell Group was provided with the opportunity to purchase an excavator to rockbreak in Papua New Guinea. From there the business grew and has developed into a business with over 60 machines.

Community

The Markwell Group has long been a supporter of various community organisations throughout the North Queensland region.

Their continued dedication to community minded initiatives is reflected in the many sponsorship and fund-raising activities that they have been involved in over the years.

The most significant of which raised $90,000 for the Beacon Foundation when the Markwell Group Managing Director, Gavin Markwell, out bid contractors from around Australia for a unique piece of Australian artwork: A Komatsu PC200-7 excavator, completely painted by legendary artist Pro Hart.
